Project_3_Alyssa (Color and Value)

This power plant is built deep in the earth of an off world planet. This particular plant harvest an eco-matter found deep within the planet.  The Eco matter is then sent through a series of generators to refine the harmful matter into a clean usable source of energy.  The generators run of an advanced computer system that a crew works together.

  1. Value variants aren't diverse enough since both appear to come from below. One way to utilize this exercise would have been to switch the vertical axis of the light (one from above, one from below). I know we were strapped for time, but in the future, test yourself with this, it will be helpful.

Color variants are good, would have liked to see a different shade than pink for one of them, but like the glow you're creating on the Analogous and the Tetradic. With the bird's eye view changes in color due to depth, atmosphere, shadow, etc, becomes very important and that's the one weakness I see on it, but that's hard stuff to get (though worth it). I recommend reading up on how color works in different situations.

Overall, good stuff, you stretched yourself and I'm proud of you. The perspective stuff is still new, as is the color, and you had a nifty idea. I'd recommend revisiting this piece at a later date. (And fill in all that emptiness with fun details, details are the fun stuff!)

  2. The second value variant is very cool and much more striking, but I agree with Alicia, the light source seems to be the same.

Color-wise, the three variants are nice and give off a mood that fits your description of the power plant, especially the tetradic. You might want to be careful about the thickness of some of your shadows because they're creating a false depth (mainly the shadow next to some of the pipe plating). There are some other areas where the shadows are bleeding out of the lines so the objects looks a little mushy, but that's an easy fix. Overall, great job!

  3. I like the color choice you picked for your project. The only thing I would suggest is to maybe play with the light in another version and make it come from a different direction.
